The CaesarBand Tutorial

Today I am going to show you how to make your own Caesar headband! It is really easy peasy and only takes a couple of hours. You can adjust the needle size and yarn depending on how you want the end result to look, I used some bulky Berroco wool and a semi- skinny circular needle of some size!

To start C/O 14 sts, then knit back and forth stocking stitch until your work is long enough to reach around your head with about an inch to spare.

cast off your stitches leaving a fairly long tail. Repeat the above twice more so you have 3 strips.

Now comes the fun part!

Secure the ends together at the top, I used a couple of office clips, but you can just as easily use anything else, even holding it between your knees works too ; ) Make sure that each strip is right side up so the curly side is underneath, then plait to the end. The underside should look like this:

Then it gets a little tricky…

Remove your clips, and secure each end of the braid with a pin or a needle, like a club sandwich! This is to make sure the braid stays in place while it is being connected. Bring the two ends together, making sure there are no twists in the plait and secure the seperate ends to each other like this:

Using the long tails left from the cast off, sew the ends discreetly to their opposite partners, after this is done you should be able to shift the strips back and forth a little so that the seams are hidden within the plait. It should look like this:

Sew in your ends and admire your CaesarBand. Go take a grainy photo of yourself wearing it in the bathroom mirror (optional)!

And if you really cant be bothered to make your own, this will soon be available for purchase in my Etsy shop, wooot!

    Great tutorial!
I’m making my own as we speak (only I’m using a thinner yarn). I’m looking forward to the final result :)
